ROUND TABLE WITH MANAGERS ON ROLES FOR GEOINFORMATICS STUDENTS
What career opportunities are available today for students in Geoinformatics?
How can skills related to geospatial data, location technologies, and software development be applied in innovative industrial contexts?
Join the Round Table with Managers on Roles for Geoinformatics Students, an online event designed to explore career opportunities related to geoinformatics and geospatial technologies.
During the event, students will have the opportunity to hear the testimony of Raul Pra Levis, Software Manager at Garmin, an international company active in the development of GPS technologies, navigation devices, wearable solutions, maps, and applications for the outdoor, automotive, marine, aviation, and fitness sectors.
The meeting will be an opportunity to understand how the skills developed within the Geoinformatics Engineering programme — including geospatial data analysis and management, Earth observation, digital cartography, data visualization, software development, and machine learning applied to georeferenced data — can be applied in complex and innovative technological contexts.
During the round table, participants will explore:
- the role of geospatial data and location technologies in the development of Garmin products and services;
- the most in-demand technical skills for working on software, maps, navigation, and connected devices;
- possible career paths for students and graduates in Geoinformatics Engineering;
- the concrete experience of a manager leading projects in an international technological context.
The round table will be moderated by Professor Giovanna Venuti, lecturer at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and intended for students in Geoinformatics Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, High Performance Computing.
The event will take place online, in English, on 22 May 2026, from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM.
A valuable opportunity to gain insight into the job market, engage with a leading company, and develop greater awareness of future career opportunities in the field of geoinformatics and geospatial technologies.
