Discover Career Paths for Phd students

If you are a PhD student and would like to understand how to shape your professional future, Career Service offers a comprehensive program dedicated to exploring the three main career paths: Industry, Academia, and Startups & Innovation. A structured journey built around three “vectors” of activities, designed to guide you in discovering the opportunities that best match your interests, skills, and aspirations.

Every year, at the beginning of November, the event Discover Career Paths for PhD Students will be organized: an opportunity to gain first-hand insight into the different career paths open to PhD graduates and to understand which direction best aligns with your ambitions. Together, we will explore three possible paths

Working in a company

For PhD students interested in entering the industrial world or innovative and entrepreneurial environments, the Career Service offers a two-phase pathway:

  • Skills Mapping Seminars: sessions focused on analyzing the scientific, transversal, and managerial skills developed during the PhD, helping participants understand how to leverage them in corporate contexts;
  • Group Seminars for Skills Assessment: for those who wish, it is possible to attend seminars that help define professional goals, identify roles suited to one’s profile, and plan a conscious entry into the job market. Comprehensive support to transform your academic background into a solid, market-oriented professional project.

Pursuing an Academic Career

If you are interested in a career as a researcher or lecturer, you can attend the seminars included in the pathway “Getting into Academia”. These seminars provide practical guidance on:

  • The structure and stages of an academic career
  • How to identify the most suitable postdoctoral opportunities
  • How to prepare competitive applications
  • How to enhance your academic and scientific profile

Essential guidance for those who wish to pursue an academic career with awareness and strategy.
